 Although we are not an exclusively over-65 gym, many of our clients are in that age bracket. At Dynamic Strength, they have found something that works to build strength, bone density, balance and coordination in an environment that's calming and supportive.

It is estimated that over 50% of women over 50 and one in every eight men will eventually be diagnosed with osteoporosis, which is associated with decreasing bone density. As an alternative to drugs, research has shown that the risk of osteoporosis can be reduced with strength training exercise. Slow-Motion Strength Training is one of the safest and most effective methods of building bone density and muscular strength.

Another condition associated with getting older is called "sarcopenia". Sarcopenia is the age-related loss of muscle. Without weight-bearing exercise, precious muscle and bone tissue are lost, resulting in decreased muscular strength, increased fat and fatigue. This loss of muscle is also the underlying cause of the loss of bone mineral density, loss of balance, inability to carry out the activities of daily life and, ultimately, deterioration of all the systems that support the mechanical functioning of muscles (such as the nervous system, cardiovascular system, etc.)

As we approach our "senior years," exposure to proper strength training exercise can help us quickly regain lost strength. With regained strength, we see improvements in balance, gait and cardiovascular efficiency. Not only will you get in great shape, you'll feel better than you have in years!
